NASA has released details on the International Space Station’s transition plan, including its destruction in 2031 and research goals for interim periods until a new facility is built.

The International Space Station will continue to function until 2030 under a commitment made by the Biden administration. An announcement made by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson last month. This decision was met with enthusiasm from many scientists.

With the extension of operation through 2030, NASA plans on providing a seamless transition in capabilities from low Earth orbit to one or more commercially owned destinations.

This decision will ultimately allow for greater innovation and competitiveness. As well as advancements within research that are necessary toward sending humans into space once again. This time not just around our own planet but also beyond!

The International Space Station has been a laboratory for cutting-edge research impossible on Earth’s gravity. It is also an observatory to study our evolving climate and distribute energy resources more evenly across the planet. While also being involved in international collaborations.

This space station will remain operational until 2030 providing us with more opportunities than ever before!
