It’s Halloween! We hope you’ve got a safe and fun evening planned for yourself, your friends, and your family. Watch your candy intake, be safe with fireworks, assign a designated driver. And let’s not forget: don’t choose a costume that appropriates another culture. When you dress up as a culture that you are currently oppressing, or have oppressed during your own cultural history, you’re reinforcing power structures in an offensive way. Please don’t. It makes you look dumb, it’s not that original, and most importantly, we are living in a pretty divided world right now. Do your part to make it a more just and verdant place.
