WARNING! INTERNET EXPLORER USERS ARE AT RISK! HACKERS MAY BE ABLE TO GET CONTROL OF YOUR COMPUTER!
According to a recent article from www.cbc.ca your version of Internet Explorer may be comprimised and allowing others to infiltrate your computer without your knowledge.
“…If you have an affected browser and visit a booby-trapped website, the bug leaves you vulnerable to a “drive-by install.” That means malicious software (malware) can be installed without your knowledge – you don’t have to click on anything. Once the software is installed, others can take control of your computer.”
If there wasn’t already a large list of reasons why you should stop using Internet Explorer (slow, un-intuitive, unreliable, etc…), I hope that this reason alone will influence you to make the switch.
Switching to another web browser is your best defense against this type of bug. Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome are the top 2 highest rated internet browsers available. They are highly recommended for being easy to use and reliability; when it comes to speed, performance, and security.
We also recommend that you always use your best judgement when downloading files or clicking on any suspicious links from unknown sources. Here are some other ways you can better protect yourself;
- Enable a firewall.
- Apply all software updates.
- Install anti-virus and anti-spyware software.
So remember folks… always practice Safe-Search! You never know what your computer could pick up by accident.
